What Plant Medicine Taught Me About Building a Business
I am not going to romanticize this. Plant medicine is not a shortcut. It is not a weekend hack for enlightenment. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done. And it fundamentally changed how I build, lead, and live.
Here is what ceremony taught me that no MBA ever could.
Surrender Is Not Weakness
In ceremony, you learn very quickly that control is an illusion. The more you grip, the harder the experience becomes. The moment you surrender, everything shifts.
Business is the same. The founders I work with who are burning out fastest are the ones gripping the tightest. They micromanage. They cannot delegate. They think letting go means losing.
Surrender in business looks like trusting your team. It looks like releasing the outcome and focusing on the process. It looks like allowing something to fail so something better can emerge.
Your Body Knows Before Your Mind
Plant medicine strips away the intellectual bypassing we are all so good at. You cannot think your way through ceremony. Your body leads.
I started listening to my body in business decisions after that. The tight jaw before a deal? That is a no. The expansion in my chest when an opportunity appears? That is a yes.
Your body has been sending you signals your entire career. You have just been too busy optimizing your calendar to listen.
Integration Is Where The Real Work Lives
The ceremony is maybe 10 percent of the experience. The other 90 percent is integration. It is what you do when you come home. How you apply what you saw. How you let it change the way you show up.
Most people skip the integration. They chase the next ceremony, the next retreat, the next peak experience. And nothing actually changes.
Sound familiar? How many courses have you taken that changed nothing? How many conferences? How many masterminds?
The information was never the problem. The integration was.
Building From Wholeness
I do not build from desperation anymore. I build from wholeness. That does not mean I do not work hard. It means the energy behind the work is different.
When you build from wholeness, clients feel it. Your team feels it. Your revenue reflects it.
This is not woo. This is the most practical business advice I can give you. Heal yourself first. Then build.
